We think of ladybirds as red but compared to these very red leaves, they seem to pale into a rich orange. This almost monochrome image is a wonderful find. Not only is the inclusion of the ladybirds subtle, but over time you realise just how many of these there must be on an average sized tree of this sort. The sheer numbers of the insect population can be astonishing, and beautiful.
Desolation and destruction can be fascinating to look at. If you’ve ever walked by a building in the process of being demolished, you know what I mean. It’s that same desolation that makes this picture of a red foldable chair in the abandoned Starlite Theatre interesting. That and the wonderful contrasting colours.
I’m a sucker for old typewriters. I like the mechanics of them, and the sound the keys make. Considering modern laptop makers think it’s perfectly logical to charge premium for the same laptop with a red cover (*cough* Ferrari), maybe this Brother Correction 7 model in red was the super-laptop of its day.
This frozen shot of a red hotrod at some sort of autmotive acrobatics contest brings out a litte of the small boy in all of us. Who hasn’t dragged around one of their toy cars in a similar position at some point as a kid? And it would seem it can actually be done.
